Learn Common SEO Mistakes
Overlooking the Title tag – The most common mistake is leaving the <title> tag empty. Always use the <title> tag properly and use the main keyword to get crawled on search engines.
Image Headers – Avoid full image headers if possible, as search engine robots can read only text and meta data. So, try to use title, tagline etc as simple text in lieu of complete image.
Keyword Density – Use the targeted keyword in proper manner. Don’t use keywords everywhere or in each link. It does not mean that using the keyword 3-4 times in each paragraph will make it more relevant.
Site Map – Always create and upload a valid XML sitemap for your website or blog. You can use Google Webmaster Tools to create sitemap for your site. On the other hand, Site Map is quite useful if you are using JavaScript based navigation menu, because search engines can’t read JavaScript.
URL Construction – Always try to construct clean and relevant URL and try to use the main keyword at least once on the URL.
For example, construct URLs like the following
http://www.abc.com/create_web2_icon_using_photoshop
and avoid URLs like this - http://www.mysite.com/a28_photsp_23A
Flash Sites – If your site is completely Flash based, then always use an alternative HTML version also. Actually, flash based sites are not search engine friendly thus using an alternative HTML version is quite essential you want good traffic from search engine.
Image Tags – Often we skip or neglect to put ALT tag for images. It is quite essential to use image title (ALT) tag properly and relevant with content which will help to crawl your images on image search engines.
hmm I might be doing keyword density wrong, I’ve loaded up the text with my keyword as many times as possible, maybe its a bit too much. I guess i should switch up my anchor text a bit more too…
Is keyword filled content for the website itself equally important as it is in case of article submission? I have come across many SEO Friendly Websites which say that article marketing/submission is the best way SEO of your site?

I thing you’ve covered all the basic SEO problems for beginners, but I think there are also other thinks to do in order to get you content to be more visible in search engines:
- study the keywords you’re focusing on a post (try it not to be so competitive, but to have a reasonable amount of searches)
- keep your blog post page as clean as possible (without too many widgets, external links and so on)
- write a good meta description as it will usually be displayed on a Google search page results and people can be attracted by good descriptions
- write quality content, something people will find useful, so that you’ll get good inbound links
