How to Shutdown Your XP System Faster

Often many of us suffering from long delay during shutting down our XP computers. Sometime it’s really boaring when we have to wait for 3-4 minutes while shutting down the system. You can easily make this process faster by few simple registry tweeks as mentioned below.

  • Go to Start Menu -> Run and type “regedit” to open the Registry Editor
  • Now, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER >> CONTROL PANEL >> DESKTOP

  • Here first open the key “HungAppTimeout” by double clicking it and set the default Value Data “1000” or “500”. This values are in miliseconds. So, if you enter 1000 that means it will delay 1 second.

  • Now go to the bottom and open “WaitToKillAppTimeout”. Here also you can reduce the timeout value to “1000”.
  • Next go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >> SYSTEM >> ControlSet01 >> Control. Here reduce the value of “WaitToKillServiceTimeout” to 1000.
  • Do the same like the above step on ControlSet02.

Now simply Shutdown the system and you will be surprized.
