12 Notes Before Choosing a Hosting Company

1. WhoIS Statistics: First of all search WhoIS information of the provider you are opting for. Here notice the Creation Date & Expiration Date. If you found the company is working for 5-10 years then you can say they are well established. Secondly, in general expiration date for professional company should be 3-5 years from the current date. Finally, see that contact information is stored visible or hidden. Never go for a hosting company whose contact information is hidden.

2. Alexa Review: Get the Alexa ranking of the hosting company. Generally for a good hosting company the rank should be good enough.

3. Marketing: See the mode of marketing of the hosting company you are thinking about. How they put ads on other site etc. Also how you get them. Though this fact is not too important.

4. Support Factor: Now move on the main site. See 24X7 Live Chat/ Help is available or not.

5. Money Back: Good hosting providers also incorporate a money back guarantee. If your provider is giving this then choose they are professional. Because, if by any chance you ever face a problem you can have your money refunded and move to other provider.

6. Server Uptime: Check the server uptime. Most provider gives a onsite snapshot of sever stat. Also you can compare with third party stats. They should guarantee its uptime. Look for a minimum uptime of 99%. In reality, even 99% is actually too low, something around 99.5% or higher considered to be good.

7. Domain Fact: If your provider also allows registering domain, confirm that they are providing domain control panel access or not. Accidentally, if you register your domain with them and they are not providing control panel for domain then don’t forget to ask for the domain secret key, so that you can move your domain to other places.

8. Email: Check out nos of Email accounts they are providing including Auto responders, POP3, Mail Forwarding, Catch All.

9. Multidomain: Be sure about Multiple Domain Hosting and unlimited subdomains as multidomain hosting is too cheap now-a-days.

10. File Type: Must check if there is any file type and size limitations. You may find it on the terms and condition page else ask them

11. Space, Database and 1 Click Install: Compare space/ bandwidth and other points like PhpMyAdmin, nos of MySQL Databases (unlimited by most), SSL, auto install support for scripts like phpBB, Wordpress, Joomla etc, FTP etc according to your pocket with other providers.

12. Read Reviews: Finally see some reviews on hosting related forums, if not found ask for some reviews.
